DATE: June 2-16, 2007

WORKSHOP LOCATION:
La Meridiana International School of Ceramics
in Tuscany, Italy. www.lameridiana.fi.it/

Learn how to handle exciting large-scale design projects. This workshop will take you to places you always dreamed about, but dare not go alone. Large garden arches, elegant door surrounds, bird baths, a winding tiled bench will stretch your concepts of what clay can do! Marcia will share her tricks of constructing large scale work, the making and using of specific tools with details for texture, surface design, sprigging, and technical testing for appropriate freeze-proof clay. Learn how to make and use molds, forms, and interior supports to construct large-scale pieces. You'll also learn how to construct columns, capitals and arches.

University Credit is available through
Montana State University-Billings.

We’ll meet in Florence and recuperate there at Casa Santo Nome Di Gesu, a convent housed in a 15th century palace. After a morning of sightseeing, we’ll go by train to Certaldo
and then into the Tuscan hills to the rural tranquility of
La Meridiana, an International School of Ceramics. Apartments in restored farmhouses will be our home during the workshop.

Enjoy side trips to San Gimignano, Florence, and Siena as well as wine and cheese tasting in the countryside. Ten gourmet meals are included during the workshop workdays. Cooking classes are available. For currency exchange information, visit www.oanda.com.
